Summerhouse Farm has been occupied by the Wedd family since 1921, over the generations there has been many exciting changes in the way that the farm business (W.T.V Wedd & Sons) has been run. We currently farm 186 ha of arable land, which is cropped in a rotation of winter wheat, oilseed rape, winter oats, spring peas and spring barley and we are part of the ‘Environmental Stewardship Scheme', which is designed to increase biodiversity on farm by creating habitats from bumble bees, bugs, birds and other small mammals.

In addition to this we also rear around 550 ‘Traditional Farm Fresh Turkeys' for the Christmas market and run a ‘CaSSOA Silver Award - Caravan Storage Site'. Such diversification has been essential to the survival of our family business throughout years of unsettled grain prices and unpredictable livestock diseases sweeping the UK.

Diversification of redundant farm Buildings into ‘Commercial Property' has been another recent project, which has been really successful; we currently have one building let and another one to let.
